Knight Ridder profits fall heavily
Knight Ridder reported a sharp first quarter profit drop as ad revenue slid 2.5 percent led by weak help wanted ads. Net income fell to 40.7 million from 169 million a year earlier, excluding one time gains. Revenue slipped to 735.4 million. per share earnings dropped to 56 cents.
