In Brookpark early Sunday a severe crash on Brookpark Road killed a Lakewood motorist and buried two Fairview youths who had stopped to aid a stalled driver. The writer notes two youths attempted to help and died in the incident.
A missing driver from a potential abduction was found near Milan after a bullet-riddled truck was abandoned on Route 143 in Oxford Township. The investigation continues with multiple leads. Separately, a fatal crash near North Ridgeville killed two teens, Mendicino and Kitsteiner, and left Richard Bell Jr. dead with charges expected against David Herman.
Ronald C. Hawley, the first witness, described delivering cocaine and marijuana for a drug ring from 1976 to 1978. He testified he was paid with cash and drugs and transported to Elyria, Florida, and Columbus suburbs for distribution to Canada, the West, and beyond. Hawley linked Jeffrey Linkous to purchasing drugs, while defense lawyers questioned a supposed vendetta and witness payments totaling 15,900 dollars.
The Ohio Department of Health has approved a nearly 10 million expansion at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights. The project adds 61 beds, including a 36 bed medical surgical unit and a 25 bed psychiatric unit in a four story 65000 square foot addition, with groundbreaking set for May 27 at 2 p.m.
