Couture Land Shift Requested by Elyria Board of Education

The Elyria Board of Education asked the state school board to transfer the 100 acre Couture property from the Elyria Township School District to the city district to avoid a tax dilemma if the area stayed in the township district. The move follows the area’s annexation by the city over a year ago and concerns valuation on tax rolls and potential income losses to General Industries Co. Elyria.
