Floods struck the Midwest as five streams breached banks in North Dakota and the Ohio River crest moved through Indiana and Kentucky. In Newport Kentucky volunteers worked to pump basements and clear streets while about 125 families sheltered in New Albany and Jeffersonville. The Ohio was expected to crest near 70 feet. emergency officials declared over but regional food relief ended in southern Indiana.

Explosion Rips Banker's Home in Aurora
In Aurora Indiana an explosion ripped through the home of Clarence Wilson a bank official. Wilson and his family suffered losses including his wife’s death and his aunt Alice 79 perished alone in the blast. The eight room Turin side house was demolished and fire followed. The nearby home of Grace Nebaum caught fire. Cause is not yet known.

Defiance man killed by high tension line near Napoleon
Ray mond Houk 26, an employee of Houk Construction Co., was electrocuted while poles were being erected for the Napoleon water works. The accident occurred when a boom on a truck touched a live 2,400 volt line. Houk’s body was returned to Defiance for funeral services and burial.

Juvenile Judge H H Noe reported that about 50 Elyria High School students were questioned in a court investigation into after hours misbehavior. The inquiry, led by juvenile court officer Jane Patterson with help from Harold Ewing and Lt. C E Parker, found some very bad conditions but a small overall percent of students involved.
