Forty inspectors from the Ohio Fire Prevention Association surveyed Elyria's 3 Elyria business and public buildings yesterday. Defects were found in 258 buildings or 75.2 percent. Seven hundred recommendations will aim to eliminate hazards and improve safety. Owners will be notified within a week or ten days to correct defects. The inspection included 40 Elyria Boy Scouts and 15 off duty firemen, plus 20 school talks reaching 4,047 children and a community luncheon at the YMCA with 157 attendees.
