Weapons of the future unveiled at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
Wright-Patterson researchers showcased future weapons including a low cost autonomous attack system warhead and a nonlethal Active Denial System. The 36 inch flight munition weighs 100 pounds, lasts 30 minutes, costs about 50000 dollars, and may operate in 200 units. The system will be tested and deployed by 2005 and used with a Humvee. Also described were advances in battlefield gear such as panoramic night vision goggles to reduce fatigue and improve pilot visibility.
