Elyria merchants were victims of a daytime theft plot using a telephone ruse. Norris Schofield, meat merchant at 502 Middle Avenue, lost about 119 dollars from a cash register, and The Electric Appliance Company at 380 Broad Street reported a 349 radio stolen. Two burglars lured staff away by claiming a neighbor’s telephone was out of order and wanted to relay a call.
