No ransom paid in Monroe kidnap case ends in Decatur
Fred J. Blumer, Monroe brewer, was released by his abductors near Decatur after a 200 mile drive. Archie Wells said the captors released him fearing pursuit by Lieut Cusack. Blumer, found in a Decatur hotel at 5 am, was uninjured but tired and nervous, with a blindfold and handcuffs reported. Blumer’s wife and daughter were alarmed but hopeful for his safe return.
