Grand jury to probe Hayner distillery dealings
Cleveland April 17 a special federal grand jury will investigate the Hayner Distillery scandal with testimony from Peter J Higgins Youngstown broker and former liquor dealer among the indicted. Subpoenas were issued for Pat Scanlon Edward Scanlon Frank Eckles and Carl Flips from Youngstown. The probe centers on 22 000 gallons of whiskey shipped on federal permits from Troy Ohio to Cleveland and diverted to bootleg trade.
