The National Weather Service said strong straight-line winds caused damage across Lorain County Friday night, not a tornado. Winds 80 to 90 mph buckled a 110-foot electric tower, tore 4 roofs off an apple storage barn, and damaged a nearby home as far east as Midway Mall. An Amherst Township transmission tower and apple trees suffered damage near Oberlin Road. an engineer may determine if the storage barn can be saved.
