Bear Cubs Enter Cascade Park As Spring Arrives
Park officials report two three month old black bear cubs are venturing from their den at Cascade Park Bear House daily as spring returns. Superintendent John Madhock says the timid cubs often retreat when people approach for ice. Born around January 28, the cubs weigh about ten to twelve pounds and eat milk, dog biscuits, cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, and bread. Their mother, once brought from Canada by Elyrians, consumes meat, but the cubs are not ready for heavy fare yet.
