Bandits Escape In Gun Battle In Akron Payroll Heist
Five heavily armed bandits in a racing automobile robbed the American Hard Rubber Company payroll of about $16,000 this morning. The guards HJ Bell N A Bahey and A Mooney were forced to surrender as revolvers flashed and the robbers smeared away under a rain of bullets. Mrs. Caroline Heckley alerted police, but the bandits vanished before officers arrived.
