Orchard dusting proves successful in 6 year tests
A 6 year trial by F. H. Ballou at Ohio Experiment Station shows dusts with up to 0 percent superfine sulfur, applied 6 to 8 times, match sprays in controlling apple scab and sooty blotch. Copper dusts control Brooks spot but can injure susceptible varieties. Lead arsenate dusts offer variable insect control with cost comparable to spraying. dusting wastes more material but saves time. Dusting helps when water for spraying is limited, except for scale and mites best addressed by spraying.
