Elyria county commissioners approved County Administrator James Cordes for a 23 percent pay raise, boosting hourly rate to $42.55 from $34.61 starting April 16 for supervising 650 employees across 19 departments. Commissioner Mary Jo Vasi opposed, calling the move ridiculous and shameful amid a county reorganization.
Lorain County commissioners approve a ban on foreign steel in all county funded projects. Contractors and municipalities that violate the rule may owe 150 percent of funds received. Domestic steel must be verifiable by mill certificates from U S producers.
