Ohio House OKs spending of unused highway funds
The Ohio House approved an 87 to 4 vote to allow the state director of transportation to use urban highway extension money allocated to counties but not expended by January 1, 1979. The measure shifts up to $85 million still unspent, due to slow county action and small project sizes, to be used for highway purposes as outlined since 1968. The session also passed a mulch rose ban, a supplemental Racing Commission appropriation, urban redevelopment tax incentives, extended motor vehicle and dealer licensing rules, and subsidies for school buses for special education by area senators.
