Ohio drives close four gambling venues during crackdown
Gov. Frank Lausche's campaign against gambling led to the shutdown of four of five commercial gambling sites operating when he took office. The Mounds Club in Lake County, Jungle Inn in Trumbull County, Colony Club near Portsmouth, and Benore Club in Lucas County closed, with Pettibone Club in Geauga County remaining open only with court help. Industrial Relations Director Albert Waldman urged a broad probe of laws to curb organizers.
