Auto License Bureau probe cites $325000 shortfall in Elyria
State auditor reports a $325,000 shortage in funds at Elyria Auto License Bureau due to insufficient revenue to Columbus. Investigations by BMW trouble shooters Maxine Koppelburger and Frank Hamilton in 1974 found no issues in June and August checks but later flagged a potential shortfall. A January audit widened concern to a probable $300,000 gap. Koppelburger was later dismissed for holding a political party post.
