Voinovich urges Legislature over school funding suit
Gov. George Voinovich contends courts should not set Ohio school funding formulas. He and Senate President Stanley Aronoff and House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson filed briefs urging the Ohio Supreme Court to uphold the constitutional funding system and to deny the coalition’s bid to rule education a fundamental right. The coalition of most of Ohio’s 611 districts seeks a ruling that the funding system is unconstitutional and demands adequate, equal funding for all districts.
