Sheffield council approves tax and fee increases and road project
Sheffield council raised contractor registration from 35 to 50 dollars and added a new subcontractor fee of 35. Water tap fees rose to 900, three quarter inch meter and tap in 350, meter only 125, tap only 225 added. An emergency resolution to partner with Ohio DOT on Harris Road improvements passed. Project runs 1.24 miles from Route 611 at an estimated 70 thousand, village to pay 30 percent. Cleanup set May 6 to 14 with dumpster for residents. Recodification by Justinian Publishing cost 4590. abortion ordinance discussed but not adopted, mayor seeks strict village regulation.

County camera show invites amateurs for cash prizes
Deadline for Lorain County Amateur and Professional Juried Photography Show is April 19 sponsored by Lorain County Arts Council chaired by Gordon De La Vars with Gary Johnson and Nate Mays. Five judging categories include portrait pictorial sports commercial and unclassified. Prints must be 8 by 10 inches minimum on 16 by 20 inch matte board, no more than four per entrant, and must be captioned and signed on the back. NORTH RIDGEVILLE the board approved the 1978-79 calendar with split high school sessions starting in September. Juniors and seniors attend 7 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. while freshmen and sophomores go 11:42 a.m. to 4:32 p.m. Other grades follow standard times and vacations.

Three referred for probation after guilty pleas
Three Lorain residents were referred to the probation department for pre sentence reports in Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty. Alvin Thomas, 20, 1648 East 30th Street, admitted robbery. Kenneth Bennett, 814 North Central Drive, Lorain, pleaded guilty to using a weapon while intoxicated. Anthony Ward, 18, 1823 Washington Avenue, Lorain, pleaded guilty to illegal use of a motor vehicle.
