A city program invites Elyrians to participate in interracial home visits to promote community dialogue. The effort aims to foster understanding and reduce tensions through direct neighborhood engagement.
At a world missions conference in Gatlinburg Tennessee Methodist leaders from 48 countries denounced racial segregation in the United States and urged abolition of the central jurisdiction the all Negro administrative unit. They asked the General Conference in Pittsburgh to adopt a definite plan to eliminate the central jurisdiction and to enforce church provisions for equal rights in membership and worship.
Thirty one Austrian policemen will fly to Nicosia on Tuesday to join the United Nations force on Cyprus. A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said they have been given leave from normal duties to help keep the peace amid Greek and Turkish Cypriot clashes. Their salaries will be paid by the United Nations.
All 18 U.S. military attaches remain in Moscow after a self-imposed travel ban in protest of Soviet limits on four American and one British attache. The British officer, Air Commodore A N Davis, was confined to Moscow for 90 days after an incident in Tula.

Gen Douglas MacArthur was laid to rest at St Pauls Episcopal Church in Norfolk Virginia on the league of his mother’s ancestry. A ceremonial guard and five star flag accompanied the coffin as clergy delivered sacred words from the Protestant Episcopal burial rite. The service included a prayer led by Bishop George Purnell Gann and a Lord’s Prayer nod to past duty, with Gov Alberts Harrison and other dignitaries in attendance.

The Midview Board of Education reassigned Bruce Cox for the 1964 65 school year prompting student demonstrations at Midview High School. A citizens committee has formed to urge the board to reconsider Coxs reassignment and potential dismissal of the superintendent and assistant head.
