Sales tax viewed best for immediate returns in treasury
Editor notes this seventh dispatch on the federal tax problem. Rep George Huddleston defends a sales tax arguing it yields immediate revenue for emergency needs and channels funds to the treasury, while acknowledging fairness concerns and the risk of higher prices through income and inheritance taxes. He warns against monopoly profits and emphasizes tax policy aims over revenue alone.
