Exxon faces five counts in Valdez spill case
Exxon Corp and Exxon Shipping Co pleaded innocent to a five count federal indictment alleging two felonies and three misdemeanors each in connection with the March 24 1989 Exxon Valdez spill of nearly 11 million gallons in Prince William Sound. A lawyer for Exxon called the incident a tragic accident during arraignments before U.S. District Judge John D. Roberts.
