Men Over 25 Get About 90 Day Draft Respite
Washington Manpower officials said today the order suspending draft for men over 25 provides a maximum respite of about 90 days for registrants. The impact will vary by locality based on available 18 to 25 year olds for reclassification, with some boards re starting inductees in the over 24 bracket within a week. The order aims to ease strain from younger deferral policies while keeping 18 to 24 deferral minimal. The list of deferrable activities is being prepared by a federal interagency committee led by Paul V McNutt, with armed forces represented to influence the eligible jobs.
