Elyria board approves a master plan merging elementary and middle grades into five buildings two K-4 schools two K-8 campuses and one K-8 preschool site. It trims the district footprint from seven elementary and three middle schools and outlines demolition costs for unused buildings.
Elyria Schools presents a master plan detailing several capital projects including new elementary K-4 buildings at 13.57 and 14.19 million, a K-8 campus at 31.86 million, a 31.12 million preschool to eighth campus, plus abatement demolition and a 20.6 million local option. Total project cost 119.35 million with 67 percent state aid and 59.99 million local funds.
Lorain County authorities say a woman's skeletal remains were found in an overgrown area off Route 58 in Huntington Township. The body remained undiscovered for two to twenty years and its identity and how she came to be there are unknown.
Rhode Island turnaround leader Michael Di Pasquale, who repaired an ailing Community College of Rhode Island over a decade, is one of three finalists to lead Lorain County Community College. He lauded Roy Church’s legacy and noted the job centers on sustaining student success and innovation.
