April Snowstorm Hits Plains to East Coast

A sweeping April snowstorm blanketed the Plains to the East Coast, melting tulips, knocking out power, and canceling baseball home openers from Chicago to New York. Snow totals reached over a foot in Nebraska and southern Minnesota, with heavy accumulations in the Pocono Mountains and northern New Jersey. Schools closed citywide, and seven Chinese tourists died in central Pennsylvania when their van slid on slush. Storms caused two traffic deaths in Nebraska and Wisconsin, while Great Lakes regions faced ice and wind damage. The Cubs, Indians, White Sox, Yankees, Pirates, and Brewers postponed home openers as travel and safety concerns rose.
