Cincinnati Mapplethorpe exhibit on trial sparks rally
A Hamilton County grand jury indicted the Contemporary Arts Center and Director Dennis Barrie on two misdemeanor counts each of pandering obscenity and illegally using a minor in nudity oriented material for displaying Robert Mapplethorpe photographs. Police videotaped the 175 photo exhibit as hundreds protested outside the center.
