New Insomnia Cure Gives Restful Drug Free Sleep
An old newspaper piece discusses insomnia causes and cautions against drugs. It notes sleeplessness stems from worry exhaustion and overuse of caffeine and tobacco. It describes brain congestion anemia and mental overactivity, and warns against bromides barbiturates chloral and hyoscine with warnings of risks and ineffectiveness.
Drugless Sleep Aids And Cevitamic Acid Findings
Insomniacs often seek drugs but risk dependence as their sleep worsens. Non drug methods like hot baths, cold applications, abdominal heat, walks, and light suppers aid rest. Researchers Maurer and Fisher of the University of Chicago found 1 to 3 grams of cevitamic acid daily promotes restful sleep in normal individuals with no after effects, while insane patients needed higher doses. The effect can last days to a week or more.
