Lorain County Community College reports a 2.8 percent enrollment gain to 5,047 students in spring quarter. Full time equivalent enrollment climbs 7.2 percent to 2,899.

A man in black with a rubber monkey mask robbed Cue Nin's Marathon at 960 N Leavitt Rd after 6 p.m. Saturday, produced a revolver, filled a brown bag with cash, then fled on foot. Police said no suspect is in custody and a search found nothing. In a separate incident, Avon Lake woman Marilyn Robertson 38 remained in critical condition after a horse accident on Walker Road.
Residents urged safety review at Abbe Road crossing in Elyria after a truck driver Terri Rupel 20 was critically injured when her pickup was struck by a freight train. The accident dragged the vehicle 2330 feet and prompts Conrail to reexamine gate malfunctions and citywide crossings.

He suffered a broken left forearm and cuts to the face and knee. a passenger jumped off before impact. Police cited him for failing to maintain assured clear distance and possession of marijuana.
