Mother guilty in daughter's murder plea and sentence

Elyria Avon Lake attorney Gerald Phillips filed suit on behalf of five residents and one business against Lorain County commissioners claiming illegal passage of a 0.25 percent sales tax increase that took effect Saturday. Elyria Board Purchases Land From Administrator
The Elyria school board approved buying a land parcel on Oberlin Road for 18 320 from Jim Wall the district's director of business services. Wall bought the property in November after the district declined to acquire it earlier and he acted without district knowledge hoping for use in the new athletic complex funded by taxpayers. The district learned in January of Wall's sheriff sale purchase and will repay his investment cost.
