Storms with 60 mph winds hit Lorain County causing outages and damage

A late Friday storm lashed Lorain County with 60 to 65 mph winds, knocking out power for hours to about 2 000 Ohio Edison customers in South Amherst and 150 along West River Road Wakeman. One man died after being struck by a falling tree near Marion. Rainfall was light and temperatures plunged from 73 to mid 40s by night.

Lakewood Hospital Wins 4.2 Million Damages Against Blue Cross

Hawkins girls denied inheritance from father estate

Lorain County probate judge ruled sisters Hawkins not eligible to inherit from their father William Hawkins who died in a 1982 arson fire. Diana Hawkins, 14, was delinquent for aggravated murder and arson and sent to youth services. Lora Hawkins, 16, sentenced to 15 years to life in Mansfield. The Ohio Supreme Court refused appeals.
