Island Water Supply Reforms in Sardinia Under Fascist Rule
Public Works Ministry reports that since 1925 Italy’s Fascist government built 192 aqueducts in Sardinia at 62 million lire, delivering drinking water to nearly 500,000. With 73 more under construction, water access will reach about 296,000 more. Previously 229 of 364 communes relied on wells or ponds, forcing costly rail transport in dry seasons, but major aqueducts now serve Cagliari Sassari and Nuoro.
