Uncoupling blocks crossing Wellington crossing disrupts railway service
A 30 minute blockage of the New York Central System crossing at Maygar Street West Herrick Avenue and North Main Street resulted from a mechanical failure. A 136 car train uncoupled and pulled off an air hose just after passing the crossover near Sectional Die Co. Police and Mayor Robert Young investigated with councilman Harold Wiles. One set of wheels skidded as trains continued. A driver reported being bumped from the rear by a passing auto near the tie up. The village plans include a sanitary sewer trunk line and storm sewers to end of village properties with a bond issue for facilities and annexation moves after completion. The high school project and board actions were also discussed.
