Scholarship In Agriculture Won By E H S Senior

Elyria High School senior Jack Johnston earned a four year Ohio State University scholarship in agriculture. Johnston scored 12 points in a February exam, placing second in the northeast district of five qualifiers, announced by Ohio State assistant dean Chester Hutchison.

Yank Tanks Eight Miles Above 38th Parallel

Coroner To Receive $2.222 A Year

Lorain county increases coroner pay to 1700 a year with Dr Norbert A Tillman acting as coroner until a permanent appointee is named. The change follows a county commission ruling after Prosecutor Paul Mickus said the prior coroner Peintee could not receive the raise during his term ending 1952.

Woman Confesses Slaying Triggered by Badger Game

Cleveland police say a Canton hotel necktie strangling of G. Jasper Lemaster was solved by a 23 year old woman who admitted the killing grew from a badger game. She and her 36 year old husband were arrested in a downtown bar and charged with first degree murder.

President Truman lauded Senate passage of the Europe troop resolution as a step toward an integrated European defense force. He said he would consult Congress on major policy and did not commit to seeking authorization for more than four divisions to Europe, warning of ongoing danger of war.

Sightless Center Plans April 19 Dinner Speaker

The Lorain County Center for the Sightless will host its third annual dinner meeting at 6 30 p m on Thursday April 19 in the Peacock Room of Hotel Antlers Lorain. Dorothy Fuldheim will be the speaker described as a top personality on lecture television and radio. She has analyzed national affairs for two years and traveled to Europe interviewing leaders. Alerting Of Yanks For Europe Trip Soon Seen

American troops will be alerted within days for transport to Europe as part of the Atlantic Pact Army. The plan calls for six divisions including the 4th Infantry at Fort Benning and the 2nd Armored at Fort Hood to be deployed, with two National Guard divisions joining later. Eisenhower and officials seek to show Western Europe the United States means business on the pact army.
