Marshall indicted by grand jury in sexual case

Lorain County grand jury indicts Donald Marshall, a Sheffield Middle School teacher, on corruption of a minor and gross sexual imposition counts. He was served the two count secret indictment at St. Joseph's Hospital where he remains hospitalized on a $20,000 bond.

Weekend Rain Forecast With Thunderstorms

The forecast calls for rain and possible thunderstorms tonight with a low in the 40s to mid 40s and a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Friday brings rain and possible thunderstorms with a high in the low 60s and an 80 percent chance of rain.

Lorain probation officer convicted of drug trafficking

Paul Ford 34, a Lorain probation officer, was sentenced to 15 years after being found guilty on five counts of aggravated drug trafficking, one count of marijuana trafficking, and one count of permitting drug abuse. His wife Pamela Ford was convicted of permitting drug abuse. The case stemmed from sales to informant Steve Moore, a former probation officer. Judge Lyle Castle rejected entrapment claims and Ford offered no comment. Bradley plans an appeal.

Lorain County jobless rate rises to 10.2 percent

Ohio Bureau of Employment Services reports Lorain County February unemployment at 10.2 percent, up from 10.0 in January, with Erie Huron and Medina counties also climbing. Statewide seasonally unadjusted rate at 9.3 percent and the adjusted rate at 8.7 percent.

Ridgeville ex mayor Carje could face prison

Former Ridgeville mayor Richard Carje, 41, pleaded no contest in Elyria Municipal Court to one felony count of passing a bad check for about $6590. Judge John Howard referred him to the county probation department with a pre sentencing hearing set for May 31.
