Lorain City Pays Cost Of Living for All Employees
Lorain city employees will receive the first quarter cost of living payment though wage settlements with council are not final. The fire department’s payment, over 400 per man, was delayed by contracts expiring Dec 31 and lack of city auditor authorization. The council also endorsed an Ohio House bill to stop utility disconnections for nonpayment in winter. A self-imposed eighth ward building ban was found invalid and sent to committee for study.

Rural Huron County may join rent subsidy program
The Huron Metropolitan Housing Authority proposes enlarging its rent subsidy program to include rural Huron County. HMHA representatives met with Huron County Commissioners to seek support. A decision by the commissioners will be announced later. The plan would let rural landlords and tenants access the subsidy to cover the gap between tenant payment and fair market rent, subject to state housing board approval.
