The city of Lorain reports a 1920 population of 37 295, up 412 from 1910 and a 29.1 percent gain. Officials note prior speculation of much higher totals, with some estimates near 50 000 or more.
Sunday morning will decide whether Lorain or Elyria M E Men s class wins the drive for largest attendance over a series of Sundays. Elyria reports 383 to Lorain 282 with efforts to boost turnout. Sheriff Backus may line up prisoners at the jail service and court officers plan to attend.
Traffic in New York harbor remained curbed as harbor employees struck. Ferry lines except Erie and West Shore were nearly normal. rail officials said risk to food and coal supplies was now averted.

Henry Petty a 64 year old prominent farmer of Henrietta died Friday after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife and children Mrs Leuszler Mrs Gladys Swearn and son Meade Petty. Funeral services will be held at his home Monday afternoon.
Hugh Donard faced trial in criminal court yesterday for non support of his aged mother. After evidence was presented the jury quickly found him guilty as charged. He received three days to file a motion for a new trial as the judge noted his lingering smile during proceedings had faded.
In St Louis on April 3 the jury couldn't agree after 30 hours of deliberation in the Ursula Broderick case. The 17 year old faced a murder charge for killing her stepfather, marking a second trial after a prior killing of her true father at age 12.

Andrew Henske claims Sophia Henske neglected duties and committed cruelty and accuses her of adultery while she allegedly lives in Buffalo. Florence Cheetham alleges Ernest Cheetham failed to support and was away from home in Amherst while earning a pattern maker’s wage. Henry Fralley alleges Marie Fraley mistreated his daughter from a prior marriage. Mabel Case seeks divorce from Joseph Case after three years of wilful absence.
Earl Dewitt azilor pleaded guilty to non support of his two minor children before Judge Redington. Indicted earlier, he was arrested at Delphos and brought back. Prosecutor sought a work house sentence. he received six months in Toledo workhouse at hard labor.
Mayor Warnock plans a compromise offer of 62 65 and 67 cents per hour to end the wage dispute between Ohio Pennsylvania Electric Company and trolley workers in Youngstown Warren Niles Ohio and Sharon Newcastle Pennsylvania. Workers seek 70 73 and 75 cents while the company had proposed 60 63 and 65.
Herbert Hoover declared he is ready to accept the Republican presidential nomination if demanded. He urged party unity and asked that his name be placed before any other party, saying a primary sense of teamwork would preclude such a possibility.

Major General Leonard Wood will conclude his Ohio tour in Columbus with a mass meeting at Memorial Hall. He arrived from Canton and spent the day conferring with his manager, then planned four speeches including the Memorial Hall address.
A large meeting at the Chamber of Commerce rooms elected Mose Wilder as president for the 1920 Elyria Twilight Baseball League. Hayden Evans as vice president and W. W. McCon nas as secretary treasurer were chosen, with several candidates named for the governing board. Plans include four strong teams perhaps, league actions with Review Park Company, and an increased entry fee to 10 dollars. The next meeting set for April 12 to finalize the schedule and contracts for players.
