Moen to lay off 104 at Elyria plant
Moen Inc will lay off 104 Elyria workers on May 31. Most are hourly and belong to United Auto Workers Local 101. A new contract reduces 92 hourly jobs. 60 day notices were issued to employees and the city. The plant will become a screw machine shop, moving much work to non union plants in North Carolina and to China. Mayor Keys calls the move unfortunate.
