Amherst creates city flag by Powers Elementary class
A second grade class under JoAnn Nagy designed Amherst’s first official flag, combining ideas from students with supportive donations. The banner features the Fighting Comet logo, green and gold colors, and the founding year 1830, with sandstone from Amherst Public Library shown. The flag hangs in Town Hall and was shown to the Amherst School Board.
