Airport authority ends super-airport plan for Lorain County

Eisenhower laid to rest in Abilene

The 34th president Dwight D. Eisenhower was buried in Abilene Kansas with full military honors after a three day state funeral. A 21 gun salute and three rifle volleys accompanied the lowering of the casket into a vault beside his former son. The procession moved through his boyhood town as dignitaries including Vice President Nixon watched. The service was relayed to crowds outside the chapel where the burial prayers were spoken. Dwight D. Eisenhower deeded his 235 acre Gettysburg area farm to the government on November 27 1967. He left on a winter vacation and never returned remaining lifetime rights for himself and Mamie. He bought the land in 1950 for 44000 dollars and had previously served at Camp Colt near Gettysburg in 1918.

Tight budget seen for county airport

Lorain County Regional Airport Authority faces a tight year as auditors report starting funds of 79,499 with liabilities and unpaid bills draining cash.
