Maston Defends Elyria Teaching Costs And Enrolment Levels
Elyria school superintendent R C Maston responds to criticism of teaching costs by arguing that current pupil per room averages support more personal instruction. He warns that raising to 35 per room would create many double grade rooms and high enrollments, while smaller classes raise costs but improve individual attention. Maston also notes long-term bond policy, citing a 1924- era approach and a recent small bond for Jefferson Junior High as examples of a pay as you go strategy.

Hazy Cityscapes Inspire Quiet Reflections on Art
The Empire State tower and the George Washington Bridge are described through hazy, romanticized imagery that cannot be captured by photography. The piece argues that haze dims the photograph but cannot erase the essence of art, praising simplicity, variety, truth, and consistency as defining traits of true works.
