Former Lorain cop settles with city over dismissal

Lorain patrolman John Horvath reached a settlement with the city in a civil suit over his 1985 firing. Judge Joseph Cirigliano approved the agreement, granting a “termination in good standing,” permission to resign, and a disability pension application option, while Horvath drops the suit and the city waives damages claims. The case traces to a threat Horvath allegedly made to Police Chief John Malinovsky during a 1985 dispute, with prior Civil Service and court rulings noted.
