Truman Meant 7,000,000 Armies Under Arms Says AP
The Associated Press reports that Truman’s remark about the Soviet Union and its satellites implying vast armed forces suggests about 7 million personnel are under arms across ground, air, and sea forces. Estimates detail 4,000,000 in Soviet and European puppet forces, 2.5–3 million in Red China, and 1,000,000 seasonal conscripts, with substantial air and naval capabilities and a growing submarine fleet.
