Cornell ears to spot origin of space radio signals
Cornell University unveiled a two ear radio receiver used as a radio interferometer to locate mysterious signals from outer space with greater precision. The system, supported by the Office of Naval Research, uses bed spring wire antennas 12 by 20 feet 250 feet apart to pinpoint 50 radio sources beyond the nearest stars. Signals include bursts from the sun and the Milky Way center, aiding weather prediction and galactic structure study.
