Orrville Girl Killed as Car Strikes Train

A 17 year old Orrville High student Betty Hershberger died when an Anvil car collided with a northbound train at a Route 93 crossing three miles north of Massillon. Three companions were injured including driver Paul Auvil and Betty Reed. The crossing lacked physical protection beyond warning signs and the incident raises Stark county’s 1941 traffic toll to 87. Funeral arrangements set for Orrville.
