Canton 18 Cent Milk Rate Is Lowest in State
Canton enjoys the lowest milk prices in Ohio with a home delivered quart at 18 cents. A statewide survey shows Canton tied with Akron for the lowest rate while other cities range from 19 to 22 cents. The volume discount plan, in effect since March 1, reduces single quart prices by one to a cent and a half based on quantities used. Stark County officials expect prices to hold into April, with hope of further declines elsewhere but not reaching 18 cents. Dairy groups credit the supply rebound and note risks of unsanitary, uninspected milk entering markets outside Canton’s city limits.
