Adolphus M. Plummer, 60, Canton division manager of Ohio Power Co., died at his home after a heart seizure Saturday evening. Born in Chester Pennsylvania, he built a long career in utilities, serving as district manager in Mt. Vernon and later heading the Zanesville unit before the Ohio Power unit absorbed his district in 1931. He was on the board of the American Gas & Electric Service Corp. and was preparing to enter the University of Pennsylvania in 1906 before joining Atlantic City Electric Co. as an office worker.
Canton’s Jaycee committee leads Cleanup Week from April 24 with Cantonians urged to paint up clean up and fix up. City trucks, Boy Scouts and school groups will clear debris and collect wastepaper as posters and local theater shorts promote the drive. General chair Ray DeVille heads a team including John D. Stark County board of elections warns 2,485 residents will be struck from active voting lists for the May 3 primary unless they reregister. With 57,543 qualified in Canton last November, 2,906 were removed for not voting in the past two general elections. Only 421 have reregistered so far as offices extend hours through April 4.
