Silent barber Mervin McKinney marks 50 years in Canton shop
The Canton barber Mervin McKinney celebrates 50 years in business at 1436 Tuscawars Street with Dan Kendall as his talking assistant. Trained in Cincinnati he moved from Magnolia in 1902 and plans no retirement. He recalls haircuts costs and clippers changing, and notes most regulars and many transients keep him busy. His daughter Mary has taught in Canton schools for 17 years.
