Two Farmer-Built Dams Finish in Stark County

Stark County farmers complete two catch dams under the rural conservation program directed by Rev ell Yarger. The 225-foot Myers dam near Paris, built 1947 and finished last winter, and Wendling’s 50-foot dam south of Brewster prevent floodwaters from drowning fields and roads, conserve water for livestock, and cost about 1000 dollars.

Canton Milk Prices Drop 2 Cents Per Quart

Delivered milk in Canton will fall to 18 cents per quart starting Monday after a survey of about 20 distributors. Lower buying prices for distributors were agreed, returning home delivery milk to August 1947 levels and dropping by four cents from the 22 cent rate of August/September 1948. Families buying 60 to 89 quarts monthly receive a one cent per quart discount. 90 quarts or more get 14 1/2 cents off per quart, with discount certificates applied to bills.
