State Highway Patrol and local agencies combined for a 212 hour spot check of 2100 vehicles on Canton Massillon road. Forty two officers found 132 defects and 27 drivers lacked licenses. Ten trucks lacked ownership certificates and one had no flares. Warnings issued to remedy within 72 hours or face arrest. Out of state motorists included.

Walter Sheets city field engineer and secretary of the City Planning Commission for 25 years and active in veterans groups, died Friday night at Crile General Hospital Cleveland after hospital care begun three months ago.
