United Press reports the War Department said Japan has landed 200,000 to 300,000 troops to assault General Douglas MacArthur's positions in Batan province. Three Hurt In Head On Auto Collision Near Canton

Two cars driven by Arthur R. Day and Elmira Nancy Markle collided head on around 2:30 am two miles east of Canton on Route 30. Day treated at Mercy hospital for chest and leg injuries. Markle passenger Evelyn Fowler hospitalized for possible back injuries. Day and Markle driver’s injuries unspecified. Additional accidents reported include injuries from a 12:30 am crash at 9th street and Harrison avenue SW, a collision at 8th street and Maryland avenue, and penalties for speeding near North Industry.
